Home > 2023 Annual Meeting

About 90 staff, board members, volunteers and other supporters gathered at MAPS’ Cambridge office on Tuesday, October 24, to learn about the important milestones for Fiscal Year 2023, including serving 24,272 members of the Portuguese-speaking and other communities.

At the 2023 Annual Meeting, attending members learned more about the successes and challenges of the past fiscal year, the increase in the number of clients benefiting from health and social services during the year, new offices planned for Everett and Somerville, our financial report and the approval of new Bylaws for the organization.

The Bylaws of the Massachusetts Alliance of Portuguese Speakers (MAPS) have been completely updated to reflect more inclusive and gender-neutral language.

The only major change to the Statutes is the elimination of affiliations in its organizational structure. Approved at our Annual Meeting, the changes will be valid from July 1, 2024.

We are extremely grateful for the pro-bono services of the impressive team of lawyers at Mintz Law Firm in Boston, who reviewed and revised the MAPS Bylaws during the months of May and June. The new bylaws were approved by the MAPS Board of Directors at its June meeting.
