History

The Massachusetts Alliance of Portuguese Speakers (MAPS) is a private, non-profit, community-based organization that has provided a wide range of health and human services to Portuguese speakers and other residents of eastern Massachusetts since 1970. Click here to learn more.

Making a Difference

MAPS makes a difference in the community in several ways:

  • By assisting individual clients;
  • By supporting and partnering with other community organizations; and
  • By publicizing the strengths, needs, and rights of Portuguese speakers.

Board of Directors & Staff

The MAPS staff is made up of individuals dedicated to improving the lives of Portuguese speakers in Massachusetts. Both the staff and the Board of Directors reflect the diversity of the service community. The Board meets from 6-8 pm on the fourth Tuesday of each month except for July and August, at the MAPS Cambridge office, 1046 Cambridge St., Cambridge, in the second floor Board room. Click here to learn more.

Funding Sources

MAPS depends on a variety of funding sources to help support its programs and services to the community. Click here for a list of the generous individuals, businesses, organizations, foundations and government agencies who support us from year to year.

Accessibility Note
MAPS adheres to the regulations of the Americans With Disabilities Act by making all of its offices and services accessible to individuals with disabilities. Telephone service is available to TTY users who are deaf/hearing impaired by calling the main telephone number at each office location. In addition, MAPS agency brochures are available in alternative formats, including large print and audio tape, at each office for blind/visually impaired clients. For any questions on accessibility issues, please contact Elizabeth Chaves, Director of Finances & Operations and Program Access Manager, at MAPS, 1046 Cambridge St., Cambridge, MA, (617) 864-7600.
