MAPS Domestic Violence Prevention Worker Wins Award

CAMBRIDGE, MA -- MAY 15, 2002 -- Lucieny Passamani, a domestic violence prevention advocate for the Massachusetts Alliance of Portuguese Speakers (MAPS), will receive an Outstanding Community Service Award from the Brazilian Community Association at the BCA's second annual International Night gala celebration in Framingham May 31. The event will take place at the Windham Westborough Hotel, 5400 Computer Drive, Westborough, MA from 7 p.m. to 12 midnight.

"We're very proud of Lucieny and very happy that she is being recognized for her hard work and unquestionable dedication to our community," said MAPS Executive Director Paulo Pinto.

Passamani provides domestic violence prevention information, referrals, counseling, advocacy and other services to Portuguese speakers throughout the greater Boston area.

Tickets for the BCA event are available by phone (508-620-2312) or e-mail at zvieira@smoc.org, at $40 per person. All proceeds will benefit the BCA and its varied program of education, aid, day care, scholarships and other assistance to the Brazilian community in the MetroWest area.
