The Massachusetts Alliance of Portuguese Speakers (MAPS) will participate in the Susan G. Komen For the Cure Massachusetts Affiliate’s 18th Race for the Cure, to take place on September 25 in Boston with a group of staff, volunteers and community members engaged in the fight against breast cancer. The group, called ‘The Pink Adventurers’ will also help to raise funds for the cause. A pink ribbon is the international symbol of the breast cancer awareness campaign.
“The best way to ensure survival is through screening and early detection,” says Ione de Andrade, MAPS Women’s Health Educator, who is leading the agency’s group for the race. Race participants can either run or walk even small distances to support the campaign. Donations can also be made online. For information or to join the MAPS team, please call (617) 787-0557.
