As part of the celebration for its 40th Anniversary, the Massachusetts Alliance of Portuguese Speakers (MAPS) will raffle a $10,000 first prize, as well as three other valuable prizes. Only 1,500 tickets have been printed.
“Every year we hold a raffle to help us raise funds for the multiple services we offer to the Portuguese-speaking communities of Massachusetts and we wanted this one to be special,” said Paulo Pinto, MAPS’ Executive Director. “We decided that what people need most this year is money—to pay debts, buy a new car, remodel the house, travel the world or invest.”
The raffle will take place during the MAPS’ 40th Anniversary Awards Gala, the agency’s largest fundraising event, which will be held May 8 at the Cambridge Marriott Hotel in Kendall Square. In addition to the $10,000 prize, MAPS will also raffle a round trip ticket to Portugal, courtesy of Azores Express; a one-night stay for two with breakfast, donated by the Cambridge Marriott Hotel; and a $150 shopping gift certificate, donated by Paulo Pinto and MAPS’ Board of Directors’ President Joseph J. Vasconcelos.
Raffle tickets can be purchased for $20 at MAPS’ offices in Cambridge, Allston, Dorchester, Framingham and Lowell, or by calling (617) 864-7600. You may also mail donations to: MAPS 40th Anniversary Gala Raffle, 1046 Cambridge St., Cambridge, MA 02139. Your tickets will be entered in the drawing and stubs mailed to you if check or money order is received at least two weeks prior to the Gala.
