MAPS Mini Health Fair Offers Free Testing In Lowell

In commemoration of the HIV/AIDS National Testing and Counseling Week, the Massachusetts Alliance of Portuguese Speakers’ (MAPS’) monthly Mini Health Fair returns to Lowell on Wednesday, June 24 for extended hours, from 10 am to 4 pm.

This is a great opportunity to access testing for diabetes and blood pressure, as well as HIV/AIDS      . MAPS has a highly skilled, discreet staff doing outreach and providing education and counseling about HIV to Portuguese-speaking communities in Massachusetts.

The testing for HIV/AIDS is a quick, safe, simple and almost painless procedure: “It’s just a pinch on the finger. We take a little bit of blood and the results come out as fast as in ten minutes,”

says Osvalda Rodrigues, MAPS Lowell Office Director and Director of Family Services. “It’s a completely reliable procedure, with 99.5% accuracy.”

In addition to the tests, the Mini Health Fair will also provide health insurance enrollment and consultation referrals.  All the testing and services are free and confidential, and will be offered in a warm, friendly environment, with food and drinks, at MAPS’ Lowell Office, 11 Mill St.  To find out more, call (978) 970-1250.

MAPS is a private, non-profit organization with six offices throughout Greater Boston, Framingham and Lowell. For more information, please visit www.maps-inc.org.
